Lisa and I went to the doctor today for what is essentially our third appointment for the baby. (The first was to confirm that we were preganant and the second involved the previously posted ultrasounds.) We are at 13.5 weeks and were able to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was really awesome to get to hear it, but unfortunately we didn't get to hear it for more than 30 seconds. However, during that timeframe the baby moved around a bit causing the beat to be lost briefly. This is an exciting time! The baby's heart rate checked in at 153 beats per minute which is, evidently, right where it is supposed to be.
So the baby is doing fine and Lisa is doing okay - still feeling a little nauseous now and then and beginning to show a little bump. I am doing great and am beginning to grasp a little bit of the reality of it all.
I think we are going to try and get what will be the nursery cleaned out some this weekend so we (Lisa) can go pick out a paint color and prepare to change that space. I'm sure once that room starts to take shape this whole pregnancy will be even more concrete in my mind.
